Parking in San Antonio

San Antonio's urban core is very compact and you can walk to dozens of restaurants, top sights both on street and along the River Walk. If you stay in a downtown hotel, parking can be arranged through your hotel. The charge for parking at the convention's Marriott hotels is $25 per day however, and members are likely to find better deals available at other locations in the area.

There are very good official web pages with comprehensive information about parking in San Antonio. These include maps as well as lists of parking providers with phone numbers. Two particularly useful pages are:

The DowntownSanAntonio.org site includes a parking map for the whole area in PDF format.

LoneStarCon 3 Recommends

The best deal for most LoneStarCon 3 attendees is likely to be the City of San Antonio Marina Garage at 850 E. Commerce ($10/day).

Another option is LAZ parking, which has plenty of space available on weekends (but not on weekdays). LAZ lots are available for long-term parking and range from $15-$25/day. Lots with 24 hours access can be found at the following locations:

  • 304 S Flores
  • 217 W Travis
  • 112 E Pecan
  • 213 E Travis
  • 114 Strumberg
  • 323 S Main
  • 411 S Presa

For large vehicles, Central Parking at 328 E Crockett has six slots capable of handling a 30' bus. This costs $50/day - call (210) 223-5401 x11.

Convention Center Recommends

The Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center website recommends the following parking options near to the convention site.

Grand Hyatt Parking Garage (210) 451-6464
Bowie & Market Streets
Flat rate: $9 for 10 hours, then overnight rate of $27 applies
Closest parking to Convention Center and Lila Cockrell Theatre

City of San Antonio Marina Garage (210) 207-8266
Bowie & Commerce Streets
Daily flat rate: $9
Event flat rate: $10
Across street from main entrance to Convention Center and Lila Cockrell Theatre

As noted above, this is probably the best deal for convention attendees. There is 24/7 access, you can park overnight, and you pay using an automated system with the ticket you get when you enter. Please note however that there are no in and out privileges.

Riverbend Garage (877) 717-0004
Alamo & Market Streets
Daily flat rate: $12
Event flat rate: $15
Overnight rate: $15

Tower of the Americas Parking (210) 223-3101
Bowie Street (between Market St. & Cesar Chavez Blvd.)
Daily flat rate: $8
Event flat rate: $11
Adjacent to Ballroom C

Note that Tower of the Americas does not allow overnight parking.
