Membership Rates
LoneStarCon 3 will be having a Memorial Day weekend sale, from Friday, May 24 through Monday, May 27, 2013. During the sale, the Adult Attending membership rate will be reduced from $220 to $200. The upgrade price from Supporting to Adult Attending will be reduced from $160 to $140.
The reduced rates will apply to memberships bought through this website and to memberships bought in person at ConQuest in Kansas City, MO; Balticon in Hunt Valley, MD; and BayCon in Santa Clara, CA.
Individual memberships are available for Adults, Military Personnel, Young Adults and Children. We also sell Family memberships, which significantly reduce the cost of attendance for families of two adults with two or more children or young adults.
The table below details the current membership rates which are valid through July 31, 2013. The base Family rate at this time is US $520, representing a saving of $70 for families with two children or $145 for families with three children.

Day Admissions
We are pleased to confirm that we will be selling Day Admissions to the convention. Day Admissions will be priced according to the day(s) being purchased and the age of the purchaser. Single Day Admissions for Adults will range from $30 to $75; for Young Adults and Military, from $20 to $40; and for Children, from $10 to $25.
Full details of Day Admission prices will be released at the end of May, 2013 and Day Admissions will be available for purchase from June 1, 2013.
How to Join and Pay
You can join and pay in several ways.
- Online through this website, paying by PayPal / credit card.
- By post - paying by check. To join by post, download and print our membership form and send it to us, with your check, at LoneStarCon 3, PO Box 27277, Austin, TX 78755-2277.
- In person at any convention where we have a desk - paying by cash, check, or credit card.
Types of Membership
Attending: An Attending Membership includes all publications, as well as voting and attending rights.
Please note that members requesting printed publications will receive mailed paper copies of those Progress Reports that are released from the time the member registers for the convention. Electronic copies of older Progress Reports can be downloaded from the publications page.
Supporting: A Supporting Membership includes all of the rights and privileges of an attending membership except the right to attend LoneStarCon 3. We encourage you to upgrade your membership from Supporting to Attending at any time before August 15, 2013, by paying the difference between the "New Supporting" and "New Attending" membership rates in force at the time of conversion. If you voted in the 2013 Worldcon Site Selection election at Renovation in 2011, you are automatically a Supporting member of LoneStarCon 3.
Young Adult: A Young Adult (YA) Attending Membership is identical to an Attending Membership but it is only available to people aged 17 to 21 as of September 2, 2013. Individuals in this age group can also be included in Family Memberships. YA memberships can only be transferred to people who also meet the YA age criteria.
Military: A Military Attending Membership is identical to an Attending Membership but it is only available to personnel who are active duty or retired military as of September 2, 2013. Individuals in this group can also be included in Family Memberships (see below). Military Memberships can only be transferred to people who also meet the military criteria. A military ID will be required at the door.
Children and Kids-in-Tow: Child Memberships are available for all children aged 16 or under as of September 2, 2013, and will include some hours of free professional childcare for children aged 12 or under. (Child care provisions will not be finalized until closer to the convention, but all children in any convention-provided child care facility must be registered members of the convention.) Alternatively, children aged 6 or under as of September 2, 2013 may be registered free of charge as Kids-in-Tow. Although there is no charge, we encourage you to register your Kids-in-Tow as it helps us to keep track of the number of young children who will be at the convention. Kid-in-Tow Memberships do not include child care. Children and Kid-in-Tow Memberships include admission to LoneStarCon 3 under the supervision of an adult, but do not include publications or voting rights for the Hugo Awards or Worldcon Site Selection. Children and Kids-in-Tow may have Attending Memberships (and thus have publications and voting rights) instead of Child or Kids-in-Tow Memberships, but must still be supervised by an adult at all times.
Family Memberships: Family Memberships can be purchased for 2 adults (including Military) and 2 or more Children (aged 16 or under as of September 2, 2013) or Young Adults (see definition above). The third and subsequent Children are free. Children under 12 will receive the same number of hours of free childcare as a separate Child Membership. The current price for a standard Family Membership (2 Adults + 2 Children) is $520, subject to the following adjustments.
- A Child can be replaced with a Young Adult for an additional $35
- An Adult can be replaced with a Military membership with a reduction of $90
- The third and subsequent children are free, excepting that Young Adults pay an additional $35
- If upgrading from an existing membership, e.g. Supporting, the value of that membership is deducted from the amount payable.
These adjustments are based on the difference between the respective membership types if purchased on a standalone basis.
As an example: a Family with two Adults, one who already has a Supporting membership, one Young Adult and two younger children, would pay $520 plus $35 for the Young Adult, less $60 credit for the existing Supporter, for a total cost of $495, with the youngest child receiving a free membership.
