FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Wednesday, August 21, 2013

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - LoneStarCon 3, the 71st World Science Fiction Convention ("Worldcon"), is pleased to announce that publishers Angry Robot, Tor Books, and Baen Books have graciously donated books in support of the Worldcon's book drive to benefit public libraries in San Antonio.

We would like to encourage other fantasy and science fiction publishers to join this effort by making a donation of recent titles. These donations will help to expand the collections of the San Antonio Public Library (SAPL) system. Books and graphic novels for young adult and beginning readers are at the top of their "wish list," and current adult novels and anthologies are also welcome.

Depending on the number of books donated, the book drive has two objectives: first, to help the libraries refresh their genre collections, and second, to provide several new books per branch as prizes for enthusiastic readers - adults, teens and children - who participate in the library summer reading programs.

SAPL (www.mysapl.org) has 26 branches, including the Central Library near the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center (site of LoneStarCon 3). Because support of the summer reading programs is one of LoneStarCon 3's goals, we encourage interested publishers to ship books as soon as possible for maximum benefit. For information about how to donate books, please contact liboutreach@LoneStarCon3.org.
