Our Marriott room blocks are nearly full as of Monday, 8 July. We have a small number of Kings left in each of the Marriott Riverwalk and Marriott Rivercenter. In addition, a small number of rooms might become available from time to time from members who cancel existing reservations.

We have secured additional capacity at the Hilton Palacio Del Rio, which is across the street from the Convention Center, only a half block walk from the main entrance. The Hilton room rates are the same as at the Marriott ($154 single/double occupancy) but with the added benefit of free wireless Internet access in the guest rooms.

Please refer to our Hilton page for full details on how to book a room in the Hilton Palacio Del Rio.

Tony - Hotel

LoneStarCon 3 accommodation will be provided by two hotels: the Marriott Rivercenter and the Marriott Riverwalk. During the day, most of the convention activities will be held in the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center. At night, most of the convention activities, including the hotel room parties, will move to the Marriott Rivercenter.

Both hotels are conveniently situated near the convention center and offer easy access to the San Antonio River Walk (Paseo del Rio) in the heart of downtown San Antonio. The River Walk, a pedestrian-only, fully wheelchair-accessible foot path, offers direct access to the convention center without having to face street traffic. Major attractions in the area include San Antonio Zoo, shopping at the Rivercenter Mall (connected to the Rivercenter hotel), and the cultural and historical landmarks of San Antonio such as the world famous Alamo.

All of our facilities are nonsmoking. Both of the Marriotts and the convention center were also used for the previous San Antonio Worldcon. Those of you who attended in 1997 will already be familiar with our facilities, although the convention center has been considerably expanded since we were last there and looks a bit different.

Both Marriott hotels have the same room rates: $154 for single or double occupancy, and $175 for triple or quad occupancy. Both hotels have also extended their room service availability to 24 hours for the duration of the convention.

With over 900 rooms reserved in the Rivercenter hotel, and an additional 375 rooms at the Riverwalk, we will have more rooms at our disposal than any recent Worldcon apart from Chicon 7. We can also expand these blocks if necessary so we are confident that all members will find a room in one of these two fine, conveniently located hotels.

For more details on each hotel, see the descriptions at the bottom of this page

Getting Online

Free Internet access is available from certain public areas in the convention center and on the ground floor of each Marriott hotel. There is a daily charge for access in guest rooms in the Marriott, or in program rooms in the convention center. Members staying in the Hilton hotel will receive free Wifi there as part of their room rate.

For more details, see the Internet access section on the facilities page.

and the Convention Center (Low Building to the Right of the Riverwalk Marriott).

Reserving Standard Rooms

All standard room reservations and any reservation modifications must be made through Passkey rather than directly with the hotels until they are transferred to the Marriott housing system on August 8, 2013. The hotels and the Marriott housing system will not be able to see your reservations until then, so please do not contact the hotels with changes to or questions about your reservations. After August 8, you will be able to contact Marriott Reservations directly concerning any changes or questions.

All bookings must be made directly by members. Although the convention cannot book standard rooms for you, we will be glad to assist you if there are problems that Passkey's help desk can't handle. Please write to should you encounter any problems with your reservations.

The reservation blocks for both hotels are divided into one-bed and two-bed blocks. In the Riverwalk hotel, you can select from the one-bed or two-bed block. In the Rivercenter hotel, you can select between party and non-party floors as well as the number of beds. Please make sure you book into the correct block when making your reservations.

For full details and to make a Marriott reservation, please go to our hotel bookings page.

For the Hilton Palacio Del Rio, reservations must be made directly with the Hilton; see the Hilton page for details.

Parties and Suite Reservations

The Marriott Rivercenter is the party hotel. All parties, whether in suites or regular rooms, may only be held there. Parties may be held only on the floors in the designated party block. The other floors in the hotel are quiet floors.

The Marriott Riverwalk is an entirely quiet hotel.

Unlike standard sleeping rooms, suites can be booked only through the convention's suites team. This applies to both party and non-party suite bookings.

For full information on arrangements for parties and suite bookings, see our parties and suites page.

San Antonio Marriott Rivercenter

San Antonio Marriott Rivercenter The Marriott Rivercenter hotel ("The Big Marriott") on the San Antonio River Walk is a magnificent 38-story building, offering 82 luxurious suites and 918 wonderfully appointed guestrooms. The Rivercenter is the larger of our two Convention hotels and will play host to the Hugo Awards Ceremony, Masquerade, evening/night convention programming, as well as the Con Suite and room/suite parties. Although most of the sleeping accommodation will still be non-party it's where most of the bedrooms are, and there are plenty of rooms for both party and non-party floors.

Eating options within the Rivercenter hotel include Sazo's, a Spanish restaurant, which is available for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Bar offers casual light fare, refreshments, and cocktails in a relaxing environment. And of course, Starbucks Coffee is available for your coffee needs.

The Marriott Rivercenter is on the opposite side of the River Walk from the convention center.

San Antonio Marriott Riverwalk

San Antonio Marriott Riverwalk "The Little Marriott", or as it is officially called, the San Antonio Marriott Riverwalk, is directly across the street from the convention center, and is an entirely non-party hotel. With 375 rooms, this is the smaller of the two Marriotts, and the hotel's balconies feature some of the finest views of the River Walk area.

The Marriott Riverwalk features the Cactus Flower Restaurant - a Tex-Mex restaurant open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. And of course, there's a Starbucks for that morning caffeine fix.
